Hindrances to Faith in the Word of God

Are you sick now? Or have you lost your job and can’t find another one? For how long have you prayed over these difficult situations? Frustrated about still not getting any answers?

You heard about those great promises in the Bible only the other day. You also heard that they can be yours in the physical reality only by acting on FAITH!

Let it be restated here again that faith releases the power of God to work for you. But doubt and unbelief will only short circuit the power from flowing. How does this happen? The devil! Both God and the Devil want to establish their power here on earth. Unanswered prayers are as a result of hindrances that the devil puts in every believer’s way. Learn about them and get rid of them to get supernatural results.

Here they are:

Hindrance 1: Forgetting that you already have faith!

Have you forgotten the day you believed it in your heart and confessed it with your mouth that the Lord Jesus Christ had died for your sins? That day was the new beginning in your life because faith had already entered you then. Don’t go around saying that you do not have faith. Get rid of this hindrance by accepting without a doubt that you already have faith.

Hindrance 2: Not knowing God’s perfect Will over a situation!

Faith can be active only when the Will of God is known. If there is an area in your life about which you do not know God’s Will, then faith cannot be active in that area. For example, what is God’s Will concerning your health, your finances? You know His Will lies steadfast on those promises. Pick and read and meditate often on those scriptures to be reassured of His Will concerning those areas. There are many handbooks coming along with the Bible that lists each promise for a given situation. Work on them!

Hindrance 3: Refusing to obey God!

This is the third hindrance to your faith working. You are reluctant to obey God. It is not enough about knowing God’s Will alone; obeying by acting on it can remove the hindrance to faith. The blessing will flow again when you obey the instructions He has given with the promise.

Hindrance 4: Not making a good confession!

If you know God’s Will and yet you continue to speak contrary to it with your mouth, then it will only release the opposite of God’s Will for a situation. Do not ever say “I will never get that dream job.” What you said just now will send a command into the spiritual realm and make you not getting that dream job a reality! Remember God has given you the same authority to “call all those things that be not as though they were.” (Romans 4:17) It will work exactly in the same way for both positive and negative affirmations.

Hindrance 5: Lack of corresponding action!

According to James 2:26, “Faith without works is dead.” Most people continue to wait and wait on God to do something after they’ve heard the promises, while God is waiting on them to do something! Didn’t He say in Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall I want?” So step out in faith that He is your shepherd. Go out and try for that dream job! Remind yourself that Jericho was not captured for the Jewish people until Joshua and his army had surrounded it. So combine your faith with action.

Hindrance 6: Lack of perseverance!

Okay, you’ve heard the Word. You believed it and have started acting on it. Soon the devil will come and try to hinder your faith in receiving the blessing. Be prepared. You can be sure he will do it. Maybe he will not be able to stop the blessing at all from being manifested in your life, but he can delay it to the point you will lose your patience. Hold on to the promise as Jesus said in Mark11: 24 “believe that you’ve received it, and it will be yours.” Although it may take time at times for the faith fact to materialize, it will be a physical fact only if you persist and persevere.

Hindrance 7: A complete lack of love

This is the final and the most important hindrance of them all. Ignoring it will stop the blessing no matter how much you believe and pray. Walking in love is the most important command that Jesus has given us. You cannot stand in faith on something while you continue to curse your brother or your neighbour. Read James 3: 8 -12. Remember that forgiveness is love in action!

There, my friends are the 7 hindrances to faith. Take a look at them again and read the scriptures concerning them in the paragraphs I have given above. Your faith will then come alive to bring about the miracles you want in your lives. And do not be surprised when that happens, for it is only God’s Word in action.

Halleluiah!
