Prayer is an intrinsic part of every Christian life. Nehemiah’s prayer is a model prayer to be followed by every Christian. Who was Nehemiah? Nehemiah, the son of Hacaliah, was a Jewish and was born in Jerusalem in the country of Judah.
Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon invaded on Jerusalem and brought some of the intelligent youth to his country and Nehemiah was one among them. Nehemiah was a true devotee and had intense faith in God. He was a powerful prayer to God. He depended for everything on power of praying only. His job was to supply wine in a utensil (cupbearer) to the king.
One day, Hanani, one of his brothers along with a few other persons of Jerusalem , came to Nehemiah and informed him about the troubles and disgraceful conditions of the Jewish and also told him that the wall of Jerusalem was broken down and its gates had been burnt with fire. Nehemiah wept for a while after hearing these things. He mourned, fasted for a few days and then prayed to God.
“O Lord, God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and obey his commands. Let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer, your servants praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s house have committed against you” (Nehemiah 1:5, 6).
“O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success to day by granting him favoring the presence of this man (king) (Nehemiah 1:11)”.
After doing this powerful prayer, Nehemiah came to the king Artaxerxes, who saw the sorrow face of Nehemiah and enquired the cause for his sadness. Nehemiah informed the king, that “he wanted to return to the ruined city Jerusalem, (in Judah), to rebuild it”.
The king also asked him, “how long will your journey take, and when will you get back?” Nehemiah set a time. He also requested the king, to provide him with the letters to the governors of Trans –Euphrates for his safe conduct to Judah and also a letter to Asaph to provider timber for the preparation of beams for the gates of citadel and the temple etc.
And, because of the gracious hand of God on him, the king not only granted his request but also sent army officers and cavalry along with Nehemiah.
Nehemiah’s prayer was such a powerful one and the king granted everything requested by him. Our prayer also should be like that of Nehemiah’s prayer. We should also learn to pray depending upon the necessity and the real purpose, not as we like, and it should be agreeable to God.
Often God gives us more than what we expected (I have number of my personal experiences). So, have sincere faith in God and pray to Him for your genuine need and certainly your requests shall be granted by God, the Almighty and you can see wonders for yourself.
Quote: “Faith moves mountains”.

So you says to Pray like a Jew as said by Nehemiah. Not said by Christ in Matthew 6: 5-8. Funny Christian. If you are a Jew follow Jewis method. If you are a Christian follow christ as said in Matthew 6:5-8
