The meaning of the blood of Jesus

All of us go to church. We read from the Bible, we sing the hymns and listen closely the sermons. Some of us even testify to only a few things. But don’t we need to do more than that? How many from among us has talked about the blood of Jesus? Ask a layman and even some of the people going regularly to the church. You are bound to hear “Blood? What blood?” Are you talking about the blood that fell down from Jesus when He was hurt so badly by the Jews and the Roman soldiers? What’s so important about that? Why the hue and cry about this blood? It only shows how ignorant some of our church folks are when asked about the blood of Jesus.

When we look deeper into the Bible, we clearly see many people talking about the blood of Jesus. Take Isaiah 53:16…. “All we like sheep have gone astray…and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” Here Isaiah is referring only to Jesus when he says “laid on Him.” Isaiah was only saying that our iniquities were paid for by Him (Jesus). Again take John 1:29. Here John the Baptist sees Jesus walking up to Him and says “Behold, the lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” Here John was telling everyone that Jesus was the lamb of God who would one day be killed for the sins of the world.

One of the known things about Man was that he was considered always a rebel. All of us were marked as sinners after what Adam did in the Garden of Eden by his disobedience to God’s Word. We were all turned away from God. But God in Ephesians 2:13 comes to our rescue. It says “But now in Christ Jesus, you who were once far off have been made near by the blood of Jesus.” While we were far away before, we are now redeemed by the blood of Jesus. As a result of the blood of Jesus, reconciliation took place. God is not mad at us anymore. We are no more His enemies, praise God.

So we need to recognize the meaning of the blood of Jesus. How does it operate in our daily lives? When we do not understand the blood, we will only have a religious view of things. We will never have the conviction that His blood indeed is our only helper. We will never be able to assess the value. Our good works will never get us healed, our prayers will never be answered even if we prayed for hours on end, and our offerings will not bring about the expected breakthrough. Unlike the blood of goats used as sacrifice by people before Jesus came and died, this blood is not any atoning blood. It is not used merely to cover up all our wrong doings as it did before. Remember the goat’s blood had to be used very year. And God allowed it as a kind gesture until Jesus came. The blood of Jesus has kicked the sin out of our lives, once and forever more. It has the power to purge us all from all the guilt of sin consciousness. So now we are able to serve the Living God with confidence and freedom. The blood of Jesus has set us free. Halleluiah!

For the best example of one who realized the value of the precious blood of Jesus, take the example of St. Paul, the greatest follower of the Holy Spirit. Can anyone truly believe him when he says “I am sinless?” We all know of the thousands of Christians he got killed before he had the most famous ‘Road to Damascus’ experience. The then Saul became Paul only when he understood the true value of the blood of Jesus. He went on testify to everyone about what the blood of Jesus did for Him and will do the same for everyone who came to Jesus.

So here is the Good News – the blood of Jesus will never fail us. This is the only reason we want to fall in love with this amazing man. Without His blood, we will be nowhere! We only have to pour His blood over every troublesome situation we may have. We thank God, our Father for the precious blood of Jesus.

Amen!

GOD FORGIVES ALL SINS TODAY BECAUSE ANYTHING ABOUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS REMINDS GOD THE REASON & SUFFERING OF THE DEATH.

  2. ANTONY PANUEL SARKAR says:

Who can define the meaning of “The blood of Jesus”. What is the true meaning of a ‘Sinner’ and ‘Sin’.
Jesus said in John 10: 27 & 28. “My sheep know me and I know them. They follow me . They will never be perished and no one can snatch them out of my hands.” Do the sheep need salvation and are they sinners? Please give answer if any one knows. Thank you.
