Give and it shall be given unto you

Daystar television is among the top ranking Christian television broadcasting companies today in all over the world. With its superb picture quality managed by some of the finest technicians in the business, it has slowly crept into the houses of more than a 140 countries in the world. Daystar is the only network that has its own station in Israel coming into the rooms of all Israelites as well. Surely the hand of the Lord is in it in these last days. We thank God for the gospel being preached everywhere via Daystar.

Marcus and Joni Lamb, the founders of Daystar held yet another of their telethons where they gave an update of the latest development of Christian broadcasting in Israel and the world. I had the proud privilege of watching and listening to some of the finest preachers of the gospel. Claude Bowers, Mike Murdoch and others blessed me with their special messages on the biblical principle of ‘giving.’ People from all over the came forward with their financial gifts either as pledges to give over a period of twelve months or a one – time flat gift of the same amount. I too have pledged to give a small amount of $25 every month for the next twelve months. It was amazing friends, I saw with my own eyes on television of people testifying as to the great blessings they had received as a result within days of their giving.

Isn’t this wonderful? The knowledge that God always gives in return should make as all ‘cheerful givers.’ A cheerful giver will never try to hold on to his possessions out of fear that it will go in waste. God will always honour His Word to take care of the giver. His return will always be more than enough. See what Jesus says in Luke 6:38, “Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

The master key to this principle is the act of commitment and obeying. We should be willing and quick to give whenever there is call for giving straight from the Master. The result will always be as Jesus says in the above scripture “it will be given unto you.” When we give, we receive. This is a law that always works out. We see Paul also referring to ‘giving’ in 2 Corinthians 9:6, where he said “He sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” Paul is instructing the Corinthians here to give money for a collection. The ordinary man will say “Set it aside for a rainy day,” but God says in Proverbs 11:24, “There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.”

All that I have said today can be explained in simple words: we should not place our trust in our purses, our bank accounts, our stocks and our gold. Things might be favourable today only to deceive tomorrow. Look what happened to the stock market in Wall Street. We should always rely on our God with whom we have a running blood – bought covenant. He said in His Word that He will never leave us or forsake us. Whenever there is a call from God to give, we should hear and do it immediately. For according to His own Word, “Give and it shall be given unto you.”

When we give cheerfully, the gospel will have all the finances it needs to be preached to every corner of the world. Remember the time is slowly catching up. Jesus is coming back soon to take away His people. But that can only happen as He said “only after the gospel is preached everywhere.”
