Yes, they are real, these demons. The world today belongs to Satan and his demons all because of the sin of one man Adam and one woman Eve. Did you notice that more than a third of all the miracles that Jesus did during the three years of His Ministry on Earth were to cast out lion devils from the bodies of all those poor afflicted people who literally begged Him to help them? Whether we are willing to accept it or not, we have no choice but to live with demonic spirits many times during our lives.
Demonic spirits primarily attack the minds of their victims. Some are attacked at their bodies as well. I have seen people possessed by demons shouting and waving their arms with frothy foam flowing from their mouths. A faith healer or anyone trying to deliver these unfortunate people will first have to ascertain how and why these demons came to occupy in the minds and bodies of their victims. They have to do this before they pray to God, the Father for deliverance. For instance, there are people who are on to drugs; some are on to pornography, some occult activity. It is for the healer to ask these people confess their sin openly before they are prayed over with the blood of Jesus.
Demonic spirits can be deadly. Some people are killed by these demons before their time was up. Some people want to commit suicide all the time. The demons throw their victims into such a state of deep depression that they want to end their lives. In every case they will cause the victim to lose their joy of living. At times, they will talk filth to their neighbours, cause disturbances in family relations. Some people will want to kill others for no reason if they are possessed by demons. And they will surely cause to spoil a believer’s faith in God by stealthily bringing in doubt and unbelief.
But then, for we born again Christians we have a way out of this madness – faith in the blood of Jesus! See what 1Peter 5:8 says “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring Lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in faith…” God is giving a way out here for those oppressed by demons. Since we are born again, we have a blood bought right (by what Jesus did on the Cross) to use the sword of the Holy Spirit to combat these demons. The Word of God released from our mouths will force these devils to leave our bodies. We can give this command “You children of the Devil, here I come to battle with you in the mighty name of Jesus – Go! I command you to leave immediately. Leave us alone, never to return forever.”
I have personally seen demon possessed people being delivered from oppression on stage. When the priest prayed and gave the command, there was one final shaking of the victim’s bodies after they fell to the ground. After a time, they would lie still with peace and refreshness that will be a wonder to anyone watching. The demonic spirits had left them. They soon got up and did not know what had happened to them when asked about it.
Words proclaiming the right to be free with the blood of Jesus did the miracle. Anyone can use the Word of God as a sheath to protect himself against demonic attacks. For the name of Jesus is higher than any other name ever to be on this planet. Didn’t the Word say “For whom the Son sets free is free indeed?”
We are indeed so lucky to be Christians! No weapon formed against us shall ever hurt us. And that surely includes demonic spirits.
