Are you ready for that promotion?

Put this question to any layman or even to a few scholars and see their reaction. Most of them will blink at you, not able to answer. Why? Because they haven’t thought about promotion in any way. I heard Brother Kenneth Copeland say one time, “Real victory is when that important breakthrough in life comes after all the necessary groundwork has already been done.”

When we look at this statement closely, it is so true when we are due for a promotion from God to move into the next level in our lives. Today even many born again Christians are of the opinion that the opportunities for going ahead in life come to us as a chance or a gift. The simple truth is unless we place ourselves in a position to receive from God, we will miss it.

Let us not forget even for a moment that all promotions (increase) can come only from God. Look at Psalms 75:6, 7. When we lay hold on this scripture, we will realize that that we need to please God for a promotion. It follows then that obeying God in all things is the master key for increase or promotion.

What are our priorities? How do we react to people in authority? One way to receive promotion is to honor and respect those who are in authority over us (See 1 Peter 2: 8 and 19). A good adjusting way to get along with all others at work should do the trick. When we serve God by loving everyone, we remove all barriers in what God is trying to make happen for us.

Another area that must be looked at is how we present ourselves to others. When we observe a high degree of cleanliness with style and poise, we are in for a promotion. This is indeed true. When we are dirty and rude, we are due for a demotion.

Have we noted our general attitude towards others at work? Are we willing to meet deadlines with a smile? How do handle ourselves when under pressure? Let us remember we are being watched for our every move. God will reward us for sure.

Whatever we are trying to do and achieve in our lives, it will work better if we prepare ourselves well in advance. Promotion will come running to us when train ourselves to be cheerful, when we present ourselves with poise that is genuinely friendly, when we forgive every hurt we have received. After all, this is what the Word says. And the Word is God’s Will. When we are in God’s Will, we are due for an increase and promotion, because He is pleased.
